After Care
Every artist has a preferred method for tattoo aftercare, often influenced by their tattooing style and experience. These preferences are based on what they find most effective for achieving the best possible outcome once the tattoo is fully healed.
My preferred method of healing tattoos is by using Saniderm, also known as "second skin." This product provides a protective barrier that allows the tattoo to heal without the risk of contamination from environmental factors such as pets, dirty towels, sweat, bedding, and other potential sources of infection. Saniderm offers peace of mind by keeping the tattoo clean during the crucial healing process. Once the Saniderm is removed, I recommend my clients use unscented soap and lotion, avoiding any products with perfumes, to ensure optimal healing.
There are instances when Saniderm is not suitable for clients with sensitive skin. In these cases, please refer to the "dry healing" information provided below.
Saniderm | “Second Skin”
Keep second skin on for 5-7 days (unless leaking or irritated).
Remove gently by peeling under warm water if needed.
Clean the tattoo with lukewarm water and fragrance-free soap.
Dry thoroughly by patting with a clean paper towel.
Moisturize lightly with a fragrance-free lotion after removal.
Avoid soaking—no baths, swimming, or prolonged water exposure.
Watch for irritation—remove if redness or rash occurs.
Be patient, full healing takes 2-4 weeks.
*do not itch, this can result in uneven healing and faded lines*
Dry Healing (Perfect For Sensitive Skin)
