After Care
Every artist has a preferred method for tattoo aftercare, often influenced by their tattooing style and experience. These preferences are based on what they find most effective for achieving the best possible outcome once the tattoo is fully healed.
My preferred method of healing tattoos is by using Saniderm, also known as "second skin." This product provides a protective barrier that allows the tattoo to heal without the risk of contamination from environmental factors such as pets, dirty towels, sweat, bedding, and other potential sources of infection. Saniderm offers peace of mind by keeping the tattoo clean during the crucial healing process. Once the Saniderm is removed, I recommend my clients use unscented soap and lotion, avoiding any products with perfumes, to ensure optimal healing.
There are instances when Saniderm is not suitable for clients with sensitive skin. In these cases, please refer to the "dry healing" information provided below.
Dry Healing (Perfect For Sensitive Skin)
Cling wrap will be applied at appointment.
Take off cling wrap as soon as you get home and gently wash tattoo with antibacterial, non-scented soap.
Dab dry with a fresh piece of paper towel.
Gently wash with antibacterial, non-scented soap 3x a day and allow the tattoo to air dry.
Stay away from lotion, creams, and balms while the tattoo is healing.
*do not itch, this can result in uneven healing and faded lines*
Saniderm | “Second Skin”
Applied at the appointment.
Leave on for 5-7 days (water proof).
Take off in the shower (pull up and away, not down).
After taking off, dab dry with a fresh piece of paper towel and let it air out for 20-30 mins.
Apply moisturizer up to 3x a day (not too much, this could drown the tattoo).
